Summer of Service Session 1

Summer is here… and that means time for Summer of Service! Our community service based summer camp for students entering 7th-10th grade has already contributed 2500 hours to the community. Each team has made a difference in the community and lives of those in the community. From weeding and mulching at Santa Maria Urban Ministry on the Green Team, to playing with preschoolers at Estrella Family Services on the Orange Team, to creating plays and activities on the Striped Team, to making movies and magazines on the Purple Team, to sorting donated food and clothes at Sacred Heart Community Services and Georgia Travis on the Red Team, our teams have had a great experience helping others.

We’ve also had a blast with rev-ups in the morning, reflections in the afternoon, and Fun Fridays! Last session we went to Great America and Biebrach Park to have a barbeque. This session we went to Natural Bridges beach and Kelley Park.

If you want to earn community service hours while making friends and making a difference in the community, join SOS!

We still have space in Session 3 which runs from July 16-July 27, and Session 4 from July 30-August 10. Scholarships are still available. Contact 408-298-5437 x 243 or for more information, and check out the flyer here: Applications can be found here: and can be emailed, mailed, or faxed.
